Authorship and Contribution Policy

At Journal Social Research (JSR), we uphold a strong commitment to authorship integrity and transparency, recognizing these principles as fundamental to academic quality and trust within the social science research community.

In alignment with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Journal Social Research (JSR) establishes the following authorship principles:

  1. Authorship Criteria

To be recognized as an author of a manuscript submitted to JSR, individuals must meet all of the following conditions:

Substantial Contribution: Authors must have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of the research. Active participation in drafting or critically revising the manuscript is required.

Accountability: Each author must take responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the work as a whole and be prepared to address questions related to any part of the manuscript.

  1. Acknowledgment of Contributions

Transparent recognition of all contributions is essential to ethical publication practices:

Contribution Statement: Manuscripts must include a clear statement specifying the individual contributions of each author.

Acknowledgment of Non-Author Contributions: Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet authorship criteria—such as technical support, data assistance, or language editing—should be acknowledged in a dedicated section.

  1. Authorship Consent

Formal Approval: All listed authors must review and approve the final version of the manuscript prior to submission and agree to its submission to Journal Social Research (JSR), ensuring collective responsibility for the published work.

  1. Order of Authorship

Contribution-Based Order: The order of authors should accurately reflect the relative contributions of each individual, with the principal contributor listed first.

Prior Agreement: Authors are encouraged to determine authorship order before submission to prevent disputes during the review or publication process.

  1. Handling Authorship Disputes

Conflict Resolution: In the event of authorship disputes, the editorial board of JSR will act as an impartial mediator, reviewing documentation and statements from all parties to reach an ethical and transparent resolution.

Preventive Transparency: These policies are publicly available to minimize misunderstandings and promote responsible authorship practices.

  1. Adherence to International Standards

Best Practice Guidelines: Authors are encouraged to adhere to internationally recognized standards, including those established by the Council of Science Editors (CSE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), to ensure ethical, professional, and transparent authorship conduct.
